Motorists caught on cam making dangerous U-turn, counterflowing on NLEX

Several motorists have been caught on video making a dangerous U-turn and counterflowing along the North Luzon Expressway.

According to Emil Sumangil’s report on “24 Oras” on Thursday, the video, which was uploaded by Dan Emmanuel Acero, was taken along the NLEX Harbor Link on Tuesday.

Acero said the motorists were making a U-turn after a truck broke down and caused heavy traffic along the expressway.

Some even counterflowed to be able to make the turn in between the fallen concrete barriers, he added.

“’Yong isa sa mga cars na nag-u-turn was almost hit by a truck. I was looking for people na nagbabantay or enforcers na baka mamaya sanctioned naman ng NLEX, it is not,” Acero said.

“Nakabagsak na ‘yong mga cones and na-realize ko na siguro ‘yong mga vehicles lang ang nagtaob doon para makatawid sila,” he said. “Sobrang delikado na, sir. Superhighway ito, hindi ito ordinaryong kalsada.”

On Thursday noon, NLEX already fixed the problem and put up new barriers in the area.

The NLEX management said they open the slot and authorize counterflowing whenever there is a heavy traffic. However, they clarified this can only be done if there is a traffic enforcer present. -Ma. Angelica Garcia/MDM, GMA News
