EDSA bus commuters complain of overcharging, losing Beep card loads

Several commuters using the EDSA Carousel-Bus system complained of being overcharged or inexplicably losing their Beep card loads.

According to Mark Salazar’s report on “24 Oras” on Monday, one of the commuters said she still had P80 on her card but when she was about to use it for a ride, it was already gone.

“Kakapa-load ko lang noong isang araw ng P80, ginamit ko ngayon tapos expired na agad. Paano ‘yong P80 ko? Wala na? Eh wala raw silang magagawa. ‘Yong mga ibang pinag-load-an namin ‘di naman daw nila kasalanan ‘yon,” said the complainant.

“Ang pagod namin tapos hindi namin magagamit ito (Beep card)? Anong silbi nito?” another complainant added.

Meanwhile, the teller at the Centris bus stop said Beep card machines do not overcharge.

“Imposible ‘yon kasi pag nagtap-in, tap-out ‘pag tama naman po, hindi ‘yon mago-overcharge ‘yon,” she said.

AF Payments Inc. also said that commuters can send their complaints through the feedback forms found at every bus stop.

It added that if overcharging is the problem, the load will automatically be refunded in seven days.

However, some bus stops had no available feedback forms.

With this, the two exasperated travelers gave up and had their cards re-loaded so they could get a ride home.

“Maawa naman kayo sa aming mga Pilipino. ‘Di kami mayayaman. Nagtatrabaho kami para sa pamilya namin, hindi naman ganoon dapat,” the complainant said.

“‘Wag kami pahirapan ng ganito. Nagkakanda-ligaw-ligaw kami,” the other complainant added. Ma. Angelica Garcia/DVM, GMA News
