Gaston said electric and telephone wires have been interrupting the rescue efforts done by volunteer groups and LGUs.

Gaston said there are no reports of casualties and injuries in Barangay Tumana yet.

While there were no official figures on the number of residents in Barangay Tumana that have been rescued, Gaston said there is already a number of people who have been evacuated.

Marikina City mayor Marcy Teodoro admitted that authorities were overwhelmed by the situation, as evacuation centers have become packed even as residents in several areas awaited rescue with floods reaching the second floor of houses.
