Residents wade through flood to get food in Pasig City

As early as 3 a.m. Thursday, several residents of Barangay Santolan in Pasig City had to climb their roofs for safety as floodwaters rose fast, aggravated by the overflow of the Pasig River due to Typhoon Ulysses' non-stop rains.

"Mabilis po ang tubig," one resident said, which prompted them to leave for higher ground without bringing anything, according to a "24 Oras" report by Mark Salazar.

After daybreak, some of the men had to wade through floodwaters to get food for the members of the family who have started to get hungry.

Rescuers came at around noon, but as the water began to subside, several home owners opted to stay despite warnings.

Those who boarded rescue boats were brought to an evacuation center and were given food and supplies.  Relief items were also distributed to the residents left in their submerged homes. —LDF/KG, GMA News
