Two dead, three hurt in Pasay fire

Two people died while three fire volunteers were injured due to a fire that broke out in Pasay City on Monday morning.

The fire started at 5 a.m. in Tramo in Barangay 43.

Fire Superintendent Jay Bernard Peñas, chief of the Bureau of Fire Protection - Pasay, said one of the fatalities, Cindy Navarro, 29, was trapped in the house where the fire was believed to have started, according to a report by Luisito Santos on Dobol B sa News TV.

A report in GMA News TV's Balitanghali said Navarro was able to hand over her child to her husband but she was not able to go out of the house.

The other fatality has yet to be identified.

The injured were three fire volunteers—two men and a woman—who were promptly given medical attention.

Firemen had difficulty putting out the fire since it was in the interior portion of a dense area, according to a report by Darlene Cay on GMA News' Unang Balita.

The fire reached the second alarm before it was put under control past 7 a.m.

It was finally declared put out at 7:53 a.m.

 

 

Investigators are still determining the cause of the fire.

Peñas said the fire started on the second floor of a house.

Around 20 to 30 families were affected by the fire.

Total damage is expected to reach P200,000 or P300,000. —KG/AOL, GMA News
