Greenhills night market shifts focus to food amid pandemic

With fewer shoppers flocking to malls amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Greenhills Shopping Center decided to put the focus on food rather than the toys and clothes that its night market was previously known for to increase foot traffic.

According to Raffy Tima’s “24 Oras” report on Monday, shoppers can now spend less time at the night market for their safety since they can leave after eating.

“We highlighted ‘yung food since we actually wanted to have a platform in terms of introducing an outdoor space or an al fresco setup for the shoppers to dine in,” Greenhills Mall official James Candelaria said.

The management also limited the number of tenants inside the mall to enforce social distancing.

Candelaria said some 30,000 shoppers visit Greenhills regularly, which is still lower than the figures recorded before the pandemic.

Greenhills also launched an online service for customers who wish to shop from the comfort of their homes.

“We have partnered with Padyak and Marshall Express and… they can be the ones to purchase for you and at the same time, they will just bring it to your home,” Candelaria said. — Julia Mari Ornedo/DVM, GMA News
