Compound in QC placed under special concern lockdown

A compound in Barangay Tandang Sora in Quezon City has been placed under a 14-day special concern lockdown to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

According to Cedric Castillo’s report on “24 Oras” on Friday, the compound was placed under lockdown after a resident experiencing symptoms attended a birthday party and infected 10 other individuals.

The Quezon City government said the patient first experienced symptoms in the first week of December but instead of undergoing quarantine, the individual attended a birthday party with friends and family.

The patient eventually tested positive for the virus on December 9.

A total of 81 individuals had close contact with the patient including nine pregnant women, seven senior citizens and six minors. Of the 81, 10 already tested positive for the disease.

Moreover, the QC government also passed an ordinance banning minors in all public places, whether alone or accompanied by a parent or guardian to protect them from the virus.

Parents or guardians of minor children who will violate the ordinance will be fined.

Owners, proprietors and managers of establishments who will violate the ordinance will also be penalized.—Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
