100 families lose homes in QC fire


A hundred families lost their homes to a fire that broke out Tuesday night in Barangay Culiat, Quezon City, two days before the New Year.

Quoting Bureau of Fire Protection officials, "Unang Balita" reported Wednesday that the fire broke out at about 9 p.m., destroying 50 houses along Luzon Avenue. It was was placed under control at about at 9:57 p.m.

An initial investigation indicated that the fire, which reached the 5th alarm, was sparked off by a live wire from a 2-storey house in the area, which was experiencing drizzles during the incident.

Affected families have no place to stay and are appealing for help from the local government.

The BFP estimated the fire damage at P75,000. No one was reported hurt in the incident. —LBG, GMA News
