No establishment selling unauthorized COVID-19 vaccines found so far in Manila —Isko

By JAMIL SANTOS,GMA News

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Thursday said authorities have not yet found any establishment either selling unauthorized COVID-19 vaccines or conducting illegal vaccination in the city.

"So far ay wala pa tayong na-aktwalan at talagang nababantayan na partikular na area or establishment. But rest assured that these things are not going to be allowed in the city of Manila," Moreno said at a Laging Handa briefing.

"Mino-monitor namin ito araw-araw because we will not allow this. We will not allow our people to be fooled around by these claims na 'yung products nila ay COVID-19 vaccine. Kasi ang gusto natin ang ipagamit sa tao ay 'yung itinakda ng ahensiya ng gobyerno," he added.

Moreno then appealed to citizens not to patronize unregistered vaccines.

"Huwag po kayong magpapatusok kahit kanino ng mga gamot na COVID-19 na kine-claim kasi delikado po 'yan sa inyo kung hindi po 'yan sertipikado," he said.

Moreno has earlier directed the city's police and health officials to investigate the reported unauthorized COVID-19 vaccination activity in Binondo.

Moreno previously approved a supplemental budget amounting to P200 million for the procurement of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines in Manila.

The Manila mayor said the city government is mulling whether to increase the budget for the vaccines.

"If there is a need to acquire more to keep our people safe, kakanselahin ko pa 'yung iba pang mga programa kung kaya pang kanselin, maibili ko lang ng bakuna para mabigyan natin ng kapanatagan ang tao, peace of mind," he said. —KBK, GMA News
