Guevarra: NBI to conduct second autopsy on Christine Dacera

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Wednesday said the NBI will conduct a second autopsy on the body of flight attendant Christine Dacera who was found lifeless in a Makati hotel on New Year's Day.

Guevarra said NBI OIC chief Eric Distor informed him about the development.

Earlier in the day, Guevarra said the NBI is helping the Philippine National Police determine the "true cause of death" of Dacera.

Guevarra said the NBI's forensic medicine team is assisting and coordinating with Makati police's Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO).

Dacera, 23, was found dead in the bathtub of a hotel room in Makati City on January 1 after she checked in with friends to celebrate New Year's Eve.

Her family believes she was drugged and sexually abused. They have sought another autopsy independent of the police investigation.

Three of 11 suspects have been arrested and face complaints for rape with homicide.

One of the suspects denied the rape allegation and said they did not leave Dacera "until the end." —KG, GMA News
