Man yields after escaping Pasay quarantine facility

A man has surrendered to authorities five days after escaping escaped from a quarantine facility in Pasay City, authorities said Thursday.

The Pasay City government earlier tasked the city's policemen to locate a certain Igor Mocorro, who arrived from Los Angeles, US.

He reportedly escaped a quarantine facility along Roxas Boulevard on January 3.

Pasay City Police chief Police Colonel Cesar Paday-os said Mocorro was again turned over to the quarantine facility after surrendering Thursday.

He said Mocorro would face a complaint for his alleged violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code or the Disobedience to Persons in Authority.

Mocorro's swab test result is not yet known, the local government said.

Authorities initially went to the given address of Mocorro in Malate, Manila to convince him to return to the facility, but he was not there.

Police had talked to a friend of Mocorro and the latter said he does not know the whereabouts of Mocorro. He, however, said he would contact Mocorro and convince him to return to the quarantine facility. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
