Makati City, Cebu province richest LGUs —COA


Makati City is the richest city in the Philippines with over P233.7 billion worth of assets, according to the Commission on Audit (COA)  in its 2019 Annual Financial Report on local government units (LGUs).

At second place is Quezon city with P96 billion, followed by Manila with P64 billion, and Pasig with P45 billion.

Rounding up the top 10 cities were Cebu with P34 billion, Mandaue with P32 billion, Taguig with P29 billion, Caloocan with P20 billion, Pasay with P19.79 billion and Davao City with P19.78 billion.

Among provinces, Cebu also stands alone in the hundred-billion peso club like Makati, with assets worth P203 billion. At far second is Batangas with P20.79 billion worth of assets.

Ranking third is Rizal with 20.27 billion, followed by Davao De Oro with P20 billion.

Completing the top 10 richest provinces list is Bukidnon with P18 billion, Surigao del Norte with P16 billion, Negros Occidental with P15 billion, Leyte with P13.5 billion, Palawan with P13.036 billion and Iloilo with P13.034 billion.  —KBK, GMA News
