MRT3 launches MRT-3 Trace contact tracing app for passengers

The management of Metro Rail Transit - Line 3 (MRT3) on Monday had a soft launch of its contact tracing app called MRT-3 Trace.

Passengers need only to register at trace.dotrmrt3.gov.ph and have mobile data and a web browser to use the app, according to a report by James Agustin on GMA News' Unang Balita.

Upon entry at the MRT3 station, passengers may scan the QR code posted in designated areas then fill out the contact tracing form online.

Among the data needed to be put in are MRT3 stations where one will board and disembark, symptoms if any, body temperature and contact details.

The app serves to facilitate contact tracing as part of measures to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

However, passengers who have no mobile data and web browser may still manually fill out contact tracing forms upon entry at the MRT3 station.

At the MRT3 North Avenue station on Monday morning, some passengers used the MRT-3 Trace app, while others still manually filled out contact tracing forms.

Passengers were again reminded to observe physical distancing, wear face mask and face shield, and refrain from talking and answering their cellphones.

The MRT3 said their contact tracing app is in support of Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade's vision to digitize transactions such as contact tracing to minimize the spread of the novel coronavirus.

MRT-3 director for operations Michael Capati said the full implementation of MRT-3 Trace will be in February 2021.

"The MRT-3 Trace is compliant with Republic Act 1017 or the Data Privacy Act," the MRT3 said. —KG, GMA News
