Senior citizens and other people most vulnerable to COVID-19 will be vaccinated against the virus in their homes, Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said Wednesday.

“Lalo na ho iyong mga vulnerable, iyong mga matanda na hindi po makalabas ng bahay dapat puntahan po sila sa bahay nila,” he said when asked during the Laging Handa briefing whether home vaccination would be possible for older people.

Parañaque has already secured 200,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine

. It also plans to acquire more vaccines from other pharmaceutical firms such as Janssen, Pfizer and Moderna.

Dr. Olga Virtusio, the city's health officer, said the plan is to vaccinate up to 119,200 residents during Phase 1 of the inoculation program.

The city will prioritize frontline workers, uniformed personnel, persons with disabilities, senior citizens and indigents.

The mayor, meanwhile, said all local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila will have a simultaneous rollout of the vaccines.

“Wala pong mauuna pong siyudad,” he said.

Olivarez is the chairperson of the Metro Manila Council, which is composed of all 17 mayors in the National Capital Region. —KG, GMA News
