4 alleged kidnappers killed in QC; Chinese victim rescued —police

Four suspected kidnappers were killed in a gun battle with police operatives in Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City early Friday morning.

Information from the Philippine National Police - Anti-Kidnapping Group said police had launched an operation to rescue a Chinese national, identified as Zhi Fu, who was allegedly abducted by the suspects in front of the UP Town Center.

Fu's companion, Li Cheng, was able to witness how the victim was dragged into a black Toyota Vios. Cheng was able to flee from the area and report the incident to authorities.

According to Cheng, Fu was able to contact him through We Chat and the latter told him that the kidnappers were demanding P20 million. The PNP-AKG monitored the negotiation between Cheng and the suspects and they were able to lower the demand to P5 million.

Police were able to locate the suspects through the application. When they were about to enter the area, the suspects fired shots at them, prompting them to retaliate.

The encounter resulted in the killing of the suspects, who were believed to be part of the Waray-Waray group, and the rescue of Fu. Police said the suspects were believed to be involved in kidnapping activities in Metro Manila and in Calabarzon.

Authorities were able to recover three handguns, a rifle and some suspected shabu in the area. —LDF, GMA News
