Navotas City Hall under lockdown after 24 staff tested positive for COVID-19


The Navotas City Hall was placed under a five-day lockdown after 24 employees tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Mayor Toby Tiangco said Wednesday.

Aside from the main city hall, Navotas City Hall Annex (including NavoServe) and Franchising Permits Processing Unit are closed from February 23, 8:01 p.m., until Sunday, February 28, 11:59 p.m.

City hall operations will resume on Monday, March 1.

“Kaya namin isinara is for the safety of everyone, para madisinfect ang lahat ng offices. Holiday naman bukas kaya we took the opportunity, parang two days lang mawawalan ng trabaho pero ang epekto ay five consecutive days,” Tiangco said in an interview with Super Radyo dzBB.

In a Facebook post, Tiangco said he ordered the infected employees to isolate and their close contacts to undergo swab test.

“Sumailalim din sa swab test ang lahat ng mga empleyado ng city hall, kahit hindi po sila close contact. Nagsagawa rin tayo ng general cleaning at disinfection tuwing 3PM-5PM,” he said.

He said he will ask the Sangguniang Panglungsod to pass an ordinance extending the deadline of payment until March 5, 2021 without penalty and surcharge.
