PNP rescues 4 kidnapped Chinese, nabs 11 suspects in police operations

Four abducted Chinese were rescued in a series of operations in Quezon City and Pampanga on Wednesday evening, the Philippine National Police said Thursday.

In a statement, PNP chief Police General Debold Sinas said the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) and the Anti-Kidnapping Action Committee responded to a kidnapping case of a Chinese woman.

Citing reports from PNP-AKG chief Police Brigadier General Jonel Estomo, Sinas said the Chinese woman was rescued at a medical diagnostics clinic in Quezon City around 6 p.m.

The supervisor of the establishment told the investigators that the victim is scheduled to undergo RT-PCR test as a requirement for airline travel.

Authorities rushed to the clinic, where they rescued the victim from her three captors identified as  Liang Khai Chean, 28, Malaysian;  Mou Yun Peng, 35, Chinese; and Benjie Labor, 43, Filipino.

During her debriefing session, the victim said more kidnap victims are being held in a safehouse in Mexico, Pampanga where she was previously detained.

Authorities went to the location where three more kidnapped Chinese were rescued while eight suspects—two Chinese and six Filipinos—were arrested.

According to PNP, the AKG investigators are still determining the identities of the arrested suspects.

“This successful kidnap rescue operation only goes to show the dedication and commitment of the PNP against organized crime,” Sinas said. —LBG, GMA News
