Residents who faked test results face raps in QC

Four Quezon City residents will face charges after they allegedly presented fake reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test results for COVID-19.

According to Saleema Refran’s report on “24 Oras” on Tuesday, the latest case was a 24-year-old resident who used the fake test result to go on a vacation to Coron, Palawan.

The resident eventually tested positive for COVID-19.

“Tumawag itong surveillance unit ng Quezon City na nakatanggap sila ng tawag from the Red Cross na may nag-positive na swab test from Quezon City.

Palawan municipal health officer Dr. Allan Guintapan said that the individual falsified documents because they were worried about not getting the result in time for their trip. He said that the Quezon City surveillance unit notified them that the result was positive for the person.

"Pinull out ko siya, dinala ko siya sa isolation and then lahat ng primary contacts niya, hinold ko muna, nilagay sa isolation for swabbing [We pulled them out, brought them to isolation and their primary contacts were also placed in isolation for swabbing]," he said.

In February, a resident also faked his test result to be able to visit Boracay.

Meanwhile, two more individuals presented fake RT-PCR test results to be able to go home to their respective provinces.

The four individuals will face charges for violation of Republic Act No. 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act.

So far, Quezon City has recorded a total of 3,075 active COVID-19 cases.

Twenty-six areas are also under special concern lockdown. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
