Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Thursday ordered a work suspension at the agency’s main office in Manila due to new cases of COVID-19 among its employees.

Guevarra said a lockdown will be imposed from March 19 to 23 after the Department of Justice (DOJ) recorded 17 active cases, including seven new infections on Thursday.

The department’s buildings and premises were also under lockdown from March 12 to 16.

“I’m constrained to order another suspension of on-site work at the DOJ,” Guevarra said in a message to reporters.

Most of the employees will work from home and a skeleton staff will be maintained at the DOJ to receive documents and attend to other frontline services.
