Taguig clarifies OCTA report, says Barangay Fort Bonifacio only has 116 cases

Taguig City government on Thursday clarified that the number of COVID-19 cases in Barangay Fort Bonifacio from March 18 to March 24 was only at 116, contrary to the OCTA Research report for the same period.

OCTA's report on 342 infections is the sum of all types of cases reported by laboratories in the said period, the local government also said.

"This total includes positive cases that have already recovered, cases that turned out to be negative, presumptive positive cases, equivocal cases, inconclusive cases, and those awaiting results of the tests," the Taguig information office said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.

"If these cases are excluded — as they should be —  Fort Bonifacio, to repeat, will only have 116 COVID-19 cases for the given period," it added.

Taguig also appealed to the OCTA Group to review their data and conclusions because errors might cause "panic, misapprehension, and confusion."

Earlier, the OCTA Research reported that Quezon City has the most number of villages with the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the newly-implemented travel restriction “National Capital Region plus” as of March 24.

OCTA also reported that Barangay Fort Bonifacio, which is home to shopping areas and commercial hubs, dominated the list of barangays with the most number of virus cases at 342.

The NCR Plus bubble was implemented to arrest the spread of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, which ranges from 5,000 to 8,000 cases daily in the past few days.

As of Thursday, Taguig has 13,688 total confirmed COVID-19 infections, 13,250 recoveries and 185 deaths.
