By MA. ANGELICA GARCIA,GMA News

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte on Sunday required building managers and homeowners associations to report immediately COVID-19 cases to its tenants, employees, and residents regardless of their place of residence to prevent the further spread of coronavirus.

In a statement, Belmonte also said that those in-charge of buildings and residential establishments must report positive cases to the city epidemiology and surveillance unit (CESU) within 24 hours from receipt of test results.

This order is aimed at preventing outbreaks in residential and commercial establishments, including condominiums and subdivisions, Belmonte pointed out.

Under the latest guidelines, Belmonte ordered establishments to “cooperate with the CESU, allow access to the city government contact tracers, and avoid hindering contact tracing efforts.”

Belmonte tasked building managers to maintain a log of all building guests and visitors, including their address and contact information.

“If any quarantined person breaks quarantine [rules], the building manager must immediately notify and coordinate with the CESU and the barangay,” she added.

Further, she said operation of swimming pools, including those in condominiums and village clubhouses, will be suspended for leisure activities, except for exercise and training purposes. —LBG, GMA News
