Taguig opens 2 more inoculation hubs; purchased vaccines to arrive in Q3

More vaccination sites were opened in Taguig City to strengthen its inoculation program amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the city government on Thursday, its newly-opened fourth and fifth vaccination sites are located in Maharlika Elementary School in Barangay Maharlika and EM's Signal Village Elementary School in Barangay Central Signal.

Its first three vaccination sites are the Mega Vaccination Hubs in Lakeshore in Barangay Lower Bicutan, Vista Mall Parking Building in Barangay Calzada, and the one in RP Cruz Elementary School in Barangay New Lower Bicutan.

“Vaccination is one of the main components to contain the virus and move forward to the new normal. Despite the case surges and being under the ECQ guideline, Taguig is pushing all its efforts to strengthen our science-based and expert-approved initiatives,” Mayor Lino Cayetano said in a press release.

Meanwhile, Cayetano said the city's orders of COVID-19 vaccines from AstraZeneca, Covovax, Covaxin and Moderna are expected to arrive in the third quarter of the year.

Taguig City started its vaccination program last March 31. The city will continue to inoculate residents until supplies from the national government last.

As of Wednesday, Taguig City recorded 39 active COVID-19 infections. -MDM, GMA News
