More beds for COVID-19 patients expected by end-April — MMDA
More beds for COVID-19 patients will soon become available in several hospitals across Metro Manila, the region worst-hit by a new surge in infections, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said Thursday.
At the Health Department briefing, MMDA Director III Atty. Victor Trinidad said 16 beds at the Lung Center of the Philippines, 22 beds at the Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital, and 60 beds at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute will become available “most likely by the end of April.”
These will augment the 110 beds at the recently inaugurated Quezon Institute modular hospital
.MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia also said some 50,000 COVID-19 test kits and 600 additional contact tracers have been deployed to the capital region.

The Department of Health vowed to fast-track the establishment of modular tents and hospital extensions to aid eight hospitals that sought the government’s assistance.
Around 100 health workers from other regions will also be sent to Metro Manila to augment its depleted manpower.
