P210-M shabu recovered, 2 suspects killed in Las Piñas

Two suspects  were killed after a buy-bust operation in Las Piñas turned into a bloody shootout while over P210 million worth of crystal meth were retrieved from them, Philippine National Police (PNP) said.

According to Rodil Vega's tweets over Super Radyo DZBB, PNP chief General Debold Sinas said over 31 kilograms of shabu were recovered from a certain Marga and Andrew Garcia, both residents of Las Piñas City, on Tuesday night.

Sinas said the joint operation of PNP Drug Enforcement Group, National Capital Region Police Office and Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit launched the drug sting against the suspects.

After an undercover policeman bought one kilogram of meth, the suspects allegedly opened fire and engaged in a shootout with the operatives.

"Nung nag-exchange ng shabu, nagdeclare ang pulis so nakipagbarilan sila so namatay yung dalawang suspects," Sinas told reporters at the site of the buy-bust operation.

Also retrieved from the fatalities were their vehicle and cellphones used for drug transaction, two .45 caliber firearms, and several personal belongings, Sinas said.

"Based on our report our discussion of PDEG, these are most likely new players. Tingin namin mga new players parang nangangailangan ng pera. Tingin nangangailangan ng pera para magpatuloy ang transaksiyon sa ibang lugar," Sinas said.

(They are new players who need of money to continue their illegal drug activities.)
