COVID-19 vaccine registrants exceed supply of LGUs

Individuals who have registered for vaccination against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have exceeded the number of doses available in some local governments.

According to Tina Panganiban-Perez’s report on “24 Oras,” all the slots in Quezon City are currently fully booked and the local government is awaiting additional supply of vaccines.

“Naubos na rin ‘yung bakuna, and we’re waiting for additional supply coming from the national government,” Joseph Juico, QC vax to normal committee co-chair, said.

Meanwhile, a total of 26,891 residents have registered for vaccination in Navotas City, higher than its vaccine supply of 5,064.

“Sinabi naman nila may parating. Ang hindi lang definite kung ilan at kailan,” Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

[They said some are arriving. What’s not definitely is how much and when.]

Caloocan authorities have also budgeted the vaccines, using only 300 doses per vaccination site per day.

“Ina-access talagang ‘yung recording puwede. Kung ilan ‘yung mga ike-cater na patients. Kaya wala po kaming deadline,” Dr. Arlyn Gonzales said.

Meanwhile, Caloocan vaccine coordinator Dr. Rachelle Basa said the vaccination was supposed to end on Wednesday but was extended until Friday or Saturday.

The vaccination program will also continue in Metro Manila despite the low supply.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno said they received 5,000 doses of the Sinovac vaccine from the 500,000 that arrived this week.

Authorities also opened a vaccination site in a mall in Taguig.

Meanwhile, Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian said they are having no problems with their supply of COVID-19 vaccines.—Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
