Taguig offers home COVID-19 vaccinations for bedridden locals

The local government of Taguig City announced on Tuesday that it was offering home service COVID-19 inoculations as it aims to expand its vaccination program for its residents.

According to Mayor Lino Cayetano, doctors and nurses had been deployed for the inoculation of bedridden residents, who were commonly senior citizens and have underlying medical conditions, under its home service vaccination program.

"In Taguig City, working diligently and deliberately is important, especially in the event of a health crisis. We must ensure that there are more locations and safer ways for residents, especially the vulnerable sector, to have access to the vaccine," Cayetano said in a statement.

The Taguig mayor explained that the process follows the same streamlined strategy used at on-site vaccination centers. It involves screening and counseling, vaccination, and post-vaccination monitoring.

Residents who wish to request a home service vaccination for their bedridden family members may arrange for it through the designated telephone numbers of the city's telemedicine service in the 31 barangay health centers as well as the city's COVID-19 hotline.

As of April 18, a total of 23,146 individuals have already been inoculated in Taguig City.

The number includes 9,564 health workers; 7,020 senior citizens; and 6,562 persons with comorbidities.
