Makati gov't partners with hospital builder LNI for city health project

The Makati City government and hospital builder Life Nurture Inc. (LNI) on Tuesday signed a deal to complete the building of the city's Ospital ng Makati 2.

In a press statement, Makati government said its agreement with LNI will help redesign, retrofit and operate OsMak 2, which is located in the city's Central Business District. Once the project has completed, the hospital will be renamed to Makati Life Nurture Health System (MakatiLife).

Based on its private public partnership contract, LNI will finance the hospital project including costs of  "construction, pre-operation, working capital and medical equipment."

LNI chief Dr. Dennis Sta. Ana said they will construct two additional  floors to the existing OSMak2 structure, which will increase the hospital's capacity from 300 to 360 beds. LNI will also construct 190 doctor's clinics.

Meanwhile, Makati City government will only contribute land and the unfinished structure to the joint venture company.

Makati Mayor Abby Binay said the LNI deal for the Makati hospital construction is timely as it will enhance the health care capacity of residents amid the continued surge of coronavirus disease cases.

“Amid the challenges we continue to face, we sincerely believe that the best COVID response is efficient healthcare for Makatizens. It is our duty to provide each one with the best service, care, attention and medical facilities that our taxpayers’ money can buy,” she said.

Once completed, MakatiLife will provide expanded medical treatments for cancer, cardiovascular conditions, rehabilitation, and preventive medical programs, among others.

MakatiLife will also have a cancer center, cardiac center as well as physical rehabilitation medicine center with the appropriate equipment.—Consuelo Marquez/LDF, GMA News
