QC gov’t tests 4 who attended Angel Locsin’s community pantry

Four individuals who attended Angel Locsin’s community pantry last week have been tested for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) through the city’s free swab services, the local government said Wednesday.

In a statement, City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CESU) chief Dr. Rolando Cruz said three of the individuals were asymptomatic while one was experiencing headache, loss of smell, and loss of taste.

“Today is the fifth day since Ms. Locsin’s event. The average incubation period for COVID-19 is approximately five days,” he said in a statement.

Due to this, Cruz reiterated the CESU’s call for residents to avail the local government’s free swab testing service.

Affected residents may book an appointment online via http://bit.ly/QCfreetest from Monday to Friday. Cruz stressed that swab testing is strictly by appointment and no walk-ins are allowed.

Residents may also arrange testing through the phone numbers: 8703-2759, 8703-4398, 0916-122-8628, 0908-639-8086, 0931-095-7737.

According to Cruz, the CESU has received an average of 950 swab requests per day, of which 600 have been conducted.

"The city screens individuals who can avail of the free swab services so we can allocate our supplies to those who need it most,” he said.

The local government is prioritizing residents who visited the community pantry, close contacts of COVID-19 patients, those with symptoms, pregnant women, dialysis patients, and those who will undergo medical operations.

On April 23, a senior citizen who was waiting in line at the actress’ community pantry died after passing out.

Locsin has apologized for the chaos the pantry created, saying that though they were prepared for the crowd, they were unable to control it. — RSJ, GMA News
