Over 30 Old Balara residents get ivermectin vs. COVID-19

At least 35 residents of Barangay Old Balara, Quezon City on Thursday were given the anti-parasitic drug ivermectin to combat the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to Saleema Refran’s report on “Balitanghali,” the Quezon City ivermectin initiative is pushing for the drug in the hopes of combating  the respiratory the illness.

However, the recipients were asked to sign a waiver. They will also undergo consultation with doctors from the Concerned Doctors and Citizens of the Philippines.

Once the medicine is explained, the residents will be given a prescription as well as 10 capsules of ivermectin.

According to the prescription, which is written on a piece of paper and not a prescription pad, the residents must drink one tablet per two weeks.

Meanwhile, Anakalusugan Party-list Representative Mike Defensor assured the public that they are aware of the doctors’ signatures.

He said those who will experience side effects may report to the barangay and will be aided by authorities. —Joahna Lei Casilao/LBG, GMA News
