Drug queen Yu Yuk Lai dies after testing positive for COVID-19

Convicted Chinese-Filipino drug queen Yu Yuk Lai has died of acute myocardial infarction, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said Tuesday evening.

According to Jhomer Apresto’s report on Super Radyo dzBB, BuCor spokesperson Gabriel Chaclag said Yu tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

She was confined for a week at the East Avenue Medical Center.

Yu was arrested along with her nephew Willam Sy in 1998 after selling three kilograms of shabu during a buy-bust operation.

In 2000, she was caught by operatives of the now-defunct Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force playing at a hotel-casino when she was supposed to be under hospital arrest.—Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
