Taguig opens 9th vaccination site

Taguig City on Wednesday opened at McKinley Hill in Barangay Pinagsama its ninth COVID-19 vaccination site.

The newly opened vaccination hub at Cinemas 1 and 5 of the Venice Grand Canal Mall will further expedite the city's ongoing vaccination rollout with two vaccination teams per cinema inoculating an estimated 400 persons daily.

“We have a good number of vaccine supplies as of now. We were told by the national government that there will be more in June. With that, the job of the LGU is to make sure that vaccination is safe, fast, and accessible. The city of Taguig wants to focus on those three things. So, we will continue to aggressively plan our vaccination rollout,"  Mayor Lino Cayetano said in a statement.

Cayetano added that air exchange is monitored in both cinemas. A video taken by his brother, Taguig-Pateros Representative Alan Peter Cayetano, showed HEPA air filters at the site.

The mayor said the city is looking to partner with more malls and other establishments to open more vaccination sites.

He added that the city is aiming to vaccinate 5,600 individuals daily starting June 1.

As of May 18, the city has inoculated a total of 54,287 individuals. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
