3 more test positive for COVID-19 after attending QC pool party; total now 54


The number of persons who attended a pool party and drinking session in in Quezon City and who tested positive for  COVID-19 has climbed to 54, according to Saleema Refran's report on Balitanghali on Monday.

Citing QC Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit chief Dr. Rolly Cruz, three tested positive over the weekend.

Based on the unit's contact tracing, the new cases attended a street "pool party" on May 9, Mother's Day, and a drinking and videoke session in a covered court on May 11. Both incidents, considered as "superspreader" by health authorities, happened in Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon.

Video footage shared by the Quezon City local government showed attendees not wearing face masks or face shields while standing near each other.

Meanwhile, local authorities are still waiting for the results for the 20 other persons who underwent RT-PCR swab tests. —KBK, GMA News
