MPD claims motorist who assaulted Manila traffic enforcer a drug courier

The Manila Police District Special Mayor's Reaction Team on Friday alleged that the woman motorist who assaulted a traffic enforcer after being pulled over for a traffic signal violation was a drug courier.

According to Rod Vega’s report on Super Radyo dzBB, MPD-SMaRT chief Police Colonel Rosalino Ibay said they conducted a follow-up operation after they found information on motorist  Pauline Altamirano's phone that she was possibly  involved in drug transactions.

On Friday afternoon, operatives of the District Drug Enforcement Unit and the MPD-SMaRT conducted a buy-bust operation on Cecilia Muñoz Street in Ermita, Manila.

Authorities arrested Redentor Sanchez, Leopoldo Samero, Jason Santiago, and Marlon de Guzman during the operation.

They also retrieved shabu worth P35,000 from the suspects.

According to Ibay, Altamirano will face a separate charge on the violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Altamirano is already facing complaints for driving without a license, direct assault, and disobedience to authority.

On Thursday, a traffic enforcer flagged down Altamirano but she sped away. This prompted authorities to give chase and issue a traffic citation.

She later slapped and hit the traffic enforcer after he held on to her documents as part of the "standard operating procedure."

She is currently detained at the MPD headquarters. The other suspects will also be brought to the MPD headquarters. — DVM, GMA News
