Vico Sotto discourages supporters from sending gifts ahead of his birthday

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto on Monday discouraged his supporters from sending him gifts for his 32nd birthday.

Sotto will be celebrating his birthday on June 17.

The mayor instead encouraged his supporters to donate food packs to those in need.

"'Wag na po kayong magpadala ng mga regalo ha? Gusto ninyo, bumili na lang kayo ng food pack, bigay ninyo po sa nangangailangan," Sotto said in a Facebook live video.

"Hindi naman ako talaga nagse-celebrate ng birthday, trabaho lang tayo nang trabaho. Bati ninyo sapat na. Hindi na kailangan ng regalo," he added.

Sotto urged those who want to give gifts for his birthday to just spend the money on the less fortunate.

"'Wag na po kayong magpadala sa akin okay lang po ako... Gamitin ninyo na lang po 'yong pera, i-donate ninyo sa mga nangangailangan," he said.

Last year, Sotto also appealed for food packs instead of gifts for his birthday.

He also told his staff not to hold a surprise party for him.—AOL, GMA News
