PACE THE SAME ACROSS NCR

Mayor Vico Sotto denies slow vaccine rollout in Pasig

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto clarified that all cities in Metro Manila were vaccinating their residents at almost the same pace.

Sotto made the remark in a Monday Facebook Live post after an anonymous social media user commented about the supposed slow rollout of vaccines in Pasig.

Sotto explained that not all cities in the metropolis completed the vaccination of senior citizens, people with comorbidities, and economic frontliners.

"There are no cities in Metro Manila that are finished with A2, A3, and A4 categories. I hope we realize that. Because the supply of vaccines is proportionate to the population of our city," Sotto said in Filipino.

"Technically, there are no faster or slower cities in terms of vaccination. In NCR, the supplies are proportionate and here, in Pasig, our supplies are almost out."

Further, the mayor said COVID-19 immunization programs in all NCR cities have almost the same pace. He, likewise, asked residents to have patience as Pasig's vaccine supplies were limited.

"Vaccination won't be quick because we still have insufficient supplies. Once we get enough supplies, we immediately use this. Once we get 50,000 doses, these will be good only for ten days or two weeks," Sotto said in Filipino and English.

As of June 14, 2021, Pasig deployed a total of 147,292 COVID-19 vaccines to registered health workers, senior citizens, persons with comorbidities, and economic frontline workers.
