Over P9M worth of shabu seized; 2 suspects arrested in Taguig — PNP

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday said P9.1 million worth of suspected shabu was seized from two suspects who were accosted by cops for not wearing face masks on Sunday.

In a statement, the PNP said the suspects identified as Jemboy Pascual and Eskak Kamsa suddenly ran away when the police officers approached and reminded them to wear their protective masks.

When the Taguig City cops caught the suspects, they discovered the two were carrying 27 pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing 1.35 kilograms of suspected shabu.

Authorities also recovered P10,000 cash and a weighing scale from the suspects.

PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar lauded the Taguig City Police Station 6, led by Police Major Crisanto Agualin, for the arrest of the suspects and also for enforcing minimum public health standards.

“I commend the Taguig City Police for confiscating and removing this huge volume of illegal drugs from the streets,” he said.

“Nakita ko rin na ginagawa nila ang kanilang tungkulin sa pagroronda na nagbunga sa pagkakaaresto ng dalawang suspek (I also saw that they are working their duty on patrolling that led to the arrest of the two suspects),” he added.

According to PNP, the suspects were brought to the Taguig City Police Station’s Drug Enforcement Unit for proper investigation and disposition.

They will be charged for the violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 in the City Prosecutor’s Office, it added. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA News
