Kidnap suspect says he gets P100k as police 'asset' for every kilo of shabu seized

The kidnapping suspects who claimed they were police assets said they earn as much as P500,000 for pinpointing drug offenders to the police.

According to Emil Sumangil's report on "24 Oras" on Wednesday, the two suspects -- who are brothers -- in the kidnapping of Rexcell John Hipolito, 23; Ronald Jae Dizon, 21, and Ivan Serrano, 18, claimed that the policemen were behind the abduction.

"Magtuturo ako ng subject, 'yong huhulihin po. Ngayon, hindi kasi makakagalaw ang mga pulis kapag wala po silang asset kasi doon po sila kumukuha ng trabaho," one of the suspects said.

He said poverty pushed them both to become police assets. Their friend was the one who introduced them to a unit in the Philippine National Police, he added.

"Halimbawa, makahuli po ng isang kilo ng shabu, P100,000 po ako doon. Kung sa isang buwan po, makakahuli ng limang kilo, P500,000 po ako doon. Akin lang po 'yon P500,000," the suspect said.

The other suspect, meanwhile, said the police give them a budget and provides them a safe house.

"Binibigyan po ako ng budget, kunwari panggastos 'yan, pangkain, tapos sila nagbabayad ng... kinikuhaan din nila kami ng safe house," he said.

The suspects said the police reward them for every successful anti-illegal drug operation.

On June 8, the two suspects were arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation for kidnapping Hipolito, Dizon, and Serrano.

They claimed they were with the police officers when the cops took the victims from their neighborhood in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

They identified the three kidnap victims as marijuana peddlers.

The suspects said the three were already dead.

They also vowed to help authorities in the investigation.

"Tutulungan ko po kayo hanggang makamit niyo ang hustisya," one of the suspects said.

Earlier, PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said the police would cooperate in the NBI's probe into the abduction allegedly perpetrated by cops.

Eleazar said the PNP will not tolerate the suspected cops if the allegations are proven true.
