By JOVILAND RITA,GMA News

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairperson Benhur Abalos on Thursday urged employers and workers to have COVID-19 vaccination as more people are allowed to return to the workplace.

At the Laging Handa public briefing, Abalos pointed out the importance of making sure that all employees are protected amid the easing of restrictions in light of the spread of the disease.

“Ako’y nananawagan sa employer, sa ating mga kababayan, na sana magpabakuna tayo. Iba na rin ‘yung protektado ka at bakunado ka. Lumuluwang tayo pero [we need to be] responsible here,” he  said.

(I am appealing to employers and to the public, let’s get vaccinated. It would make a difference if we are inoculated and protected. We are easing restrictions but we have to be responsible.)

According to Abalos, around 4 million residents already received a shot against COVID-19, including over 3 million people with the first dose and over 1 million with the second dose.

The average vaccination being done in the region per day is around 114,000, Abalos said.

The National Capital Region (NCR) will remain under general community quarantine until July 15
