Taguig inoculates OFWs, seniors with Moderna vaccines

The Taguig government on Thursday announced it will inoculate senior citizens and overseas Filipino workers during the first rollout of American-made Moderna vaccines.

On Facebook, the city government said it has received 6,000 doses of Moderna vaccines from the national government, which will inoculate 3,000 residents in the locality.

Taguig received its share from the initial shipment of 249,600 doses of Moderna vaccines, procured by the government and private sector, which arrived in Manila over the weekend.

"On the first day of its rollout, priority was given to senior citizens and outbound Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW)," read the statement.

In addition, the city government also aimed to inoculate all eligible citizens by October after it recorded a turnout of 8,000 to 10,000  people daily.

"At this pace, the city is expecting to vaccinate all eligible citizens by October," it said.

As of June 29, Taguig has vaccinated 246,709 people included in the A1 to A4 categories or health workers, senior citizens, people with comborbidities, and essential workers.

Likewise, citizens who want to get vaccinated may register through Taguig Registry for Access and Citizen Engagement (TRACE), said the city government. -MDM, GMA News
