Over 1 million COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in Quezon City

More than a million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Quezon City since it started its vaccination rollout in March.

According to the city government, a total of 1,013,988 doses have been administered as of July 13.

Of the number, 686,311 or 40.37% have received their first jab, while 327,677 or 19.28% are fully vaccinated.

“The key has always been a whole city approach where all stakeholders, public and private, join hands to collaborate on this program. Through this, we are confident we will reach our goal of population protection in the coming months for as long as soon as vaccine supply stabilizes,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Joseph Juico, co-chair of the QC Task Force Vax to Normal said the city will continue to expand and improve its inoculation efforts.

“We can no longer feel the vaccine hesitancy, instead what we have now is vaccine envy where people demand they get vaccinated. However, our problem continues to be the irregular supply of vaccines which we hope will be addressed as the procured and donated supplies arrive regularly into the country,” he said.

Further, Belmonte appealed to residents to be patient as the city government awaits its vaccine allocations and to remain vigilant despite being vaccinated.

As of Monday, a total of 13,196,292 vaccine doses have been administered nationwide, including 9,669,940 for the first dose and 3,526,342 for the second dose. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
