Eleazar orders more cops to enforce health protocols in Manila Bay dolomite beach

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar on Tuesday ordered to deploy more personnel at the dolomite beach in Manila Bay to enforce health standards amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement, Eleazar pointed out that planning and regular monitoring should be in place to prevent the overcrowding of people in the area that happened last year during the opening of the beach.

“I have tasked the Manila Police District to deploy additional policemen in the area to ensure that persons who visit the beach observe minimum public health safety standards and follow quarantine protocols,” he said.

Eleazar recalled that he relieved an MPD official in 2020 after failing to ensure visitors would observe social distancing during the opening.

He also encouraged the public to cooperate with authorities when visiting the dolomite beach.

On Sunday, the dolomite beach was opened again to the public. Visitors are welcomed to go to the dolomite beach until Tuesday.  —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
