ECQ cash aid in Valenzuela out on Aug. 7 or 8 —mayor

Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian on Thursday said the local government will distribute the cash assistance to beneficiaries under the enhanced community quarantine either on Saturday or Sunday.

At the Laging Handa public briefing, Gatchalian said they were expecting to receive the funds on Thursday.

“Pinakamaaga ay Saturday natin masisimulan. Pinaka-late na siguro ‘yung Sunday (The earliest possible release would be on Saturday. The latest, perhaps, on Sunday),” he said.

Gatchalian said the city government has designated payout centers where a set of beneficiaries are scheduled to claim the cash in these facilities every hour.

According to the mayor, they are already preparing the schedules and the masterlist for the distribution.

The National Capital Region is placed under ECQ for two weeks from August 6 to 20 to address the threat of the more transmissible Delta variant of the coronavirus.

Low-income residents of Metro Manila who will be affected by the restrictions will receive P1,000 to P4,000 cash aid from the national government. -MDM, GMA News
