Philippine National Police chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar on Thursday said cops will be deployed in establishments to ensure buyers are observing policies under the enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila.

At the Palace briefing, Eleazar said they are expecting that consumers of essential goods, who are authorized persons outside residence (APORs), will go to open establishments.

He said police personnel as well as the security officers and employees in the establishments will coordinate to make sure that their customers are APORs and do not cross city borders.

“Aside from our police na magroronda at pupunta diyan, they have direct coordination with the security itong mga force multipliers natin,” he said.

Like in the previous implementation of ECQ, Eleazar said the security officers and employees of the establishments themselves will be screening the quarantine passes of their customers.

According to Eleazar, concerned police stations have the discretion how they will deploy their personnel strategically.

The National Capital Region will be under ECQ for two weeks from August 6 to 20 to address the threat of the more transmissible Delta variant of the coronavirus.

Only APORs will be allowed to leave their homes, but earlier in the day, Eleazar said non-APORs could fetch essential workers on certain conditions.

Eleazar said non-APORs have to present a certificate of employment of the worker APOR and a copy of the business permit of the employer.

Aside from these, non-APORs should also have another certification from the worker APOR's employer indicating the fetcher’s name, contact number, and the details of the vehicle as well as the contact number of the employer and the worker APOR, he added. — RSJ, GMA News
