One hurt as gas pipe accident triggers fire in BGC

A fire broke out on 21st Drive at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig on Wednesday night following an explosion, the Bureau of Fire Protection said.

The BFP said one person experienced third degree burns and was immediately brought to the St. Luke's Medical Center for medical treatment.

The fire hit first alarm at 7:30 p.m. It was declared out at 9:35 p.m.

Interviewed on Super Radyo dzBB, Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano said the fire happened at the corner of 20th Drive and 21st Drive.

"Initially po ang nire-report po sa atin ay mukhang noong nagdi-drill po, may tinamaan na gas pipe so hindi po siya gas leak. Gas explosion. May nag-trigger po," Cayetano said.

"Habang nagdi-drill, may tinamaan, may naamoy and then later on, noong lumapit ang isang safety officer, doon po nangyari ang explosion," he added.

Cayetano said no nearby establishments were affected by the fire.  —NB, GMA News
