Pasig gov't closes events place over birthday party amid ECQ

The Pasig City government on Friday apprehended 41 people and ordered the closure of an events place after it held a birthday party despite the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila.

In a Facebook post, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said the city's Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) ordered the closure of the place located on Axis Road in Brgy. Kalawaan.

Sotto said authorities received a tip from a concerned citizen about the party, which could not be seen from the main road.

"Ang titigas ng ulo [They are so hardheaded]!" Sotto said in the caption.

"Kung gusto nating bumalik sa mas normal na pamumuhay, sumunod po tayo sa health protocols. Tandaan– #ECQ pa ngayon [If we want to return to normalcy, let's follow health protocols. Remember -- we're still on ECQ]," he added.

From August 6 to 20, Metro Manila will be under ECQ, the strictest quarantine classification where only essential travels and services are allowed.   â€”Jamil Santos/KBK, GMA News
