Ambulances used as COVID-19 rooms at Valenzuela hospital

Ambulance units parked outside the Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital were used as COVID-19 rooms by patients still waiting for admission on Thursday, according to Jun Veneracion’s report on “24 Oras.”

“Hindi siya katulad last year kung saan more than 3 days nandoon ‘yung ambulansya namin… ngayon the most is 12 to 24 hours,” CDRRMO chief Dr. Arnaldo Antonio said.

(It’s not like last year when our ambulances were parked for more than 3 days outside… now it takes, at most, 12 to 24 hours.)

Though some ambulances were still parked outside with oxygen tanks on Friday morning, the local government explained that some of the ambulances were used to fetch and bring oxygen tanks to the hospital.

There are more than 1,700 active cases in the city.

“Ang average daily namin siguro nasa mga 100, mga 90 to 100. Mataas ‘yun. Dati ang average lang natin nung before nung surge is less than 50,” Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian said.

(Our average daily cases is about 100, between 90 to 100. This is high. Our previous average before the surge was less than 50.)

“I wouldn’t call it a surge but I guess may uptake talaga (there really is an uptake). Mabilis siya (it’s very fast),” he added. — Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA News
