Eleazar: Over 100,000 violators recorded in NCR ECQ so far

Philippine National Police chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar on Wednesday said a total of 109,000 violators have been recorded so far during the enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila.

At the Kapihan sa Manila Bay forum, Eleazar said an average of 9,000 violators were recorded daily in the National Capital Region.

A total of 312,000 violators have been recorded in National Capital Region Plus with a daily average of 26,000 violators. NCR Plus includes Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal.

Nationwide, the PNP said 507,000 violators have been recorded with a daily average of 43,000 violators.

Eleazar said 79% of the total violators nationwide were just warned, 13%  were fined or cited, while 8% percent were brought to police stations for other offenses.

He added that 80% were violations of minimum public health standards, 14% were violations of curfew, and 6% were non-authorized persons outside residence.

Metro Manila was placed under ECQ from August 6 to 20 in light of the transmission of the Delta coronavirus variant in the country.

Under ECQ, only APORs (authorized persons outside residence) will be allowed to leave their homes for work, purchase of essential goods, medical appointments, and other emergencies. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA News
