30 mothers at Fabella hospital COVID-19-positive

The Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital is not a COVID-19 referral hospital but it is already experiencing problems related to the spread of the coronavirus.

According to a report on "State of the Nation", the hospital known for caring for pregnant mothers and their babies is seeing an increase in COVID-19 cases giving birth at the facility.

Thirty of its patients are mothers who have mild COVID-19 and are asymptomatic. They are not kept away from their babies especially since mother's milk could give protection against illnesses.

These mothers were told to wear facemasks and wash their hands regularly so they could prevent COVID-19 transmission.

Three newborns and two other children are also among the COVID-19 cases at the hospital. —Consuelo Marquez/NB, GMA News
