Outdoor exercises allowed in NCR starting August 21 —MMDA

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA ) on Friday announced that outdoor exercises are allowed again in the National Capital Region starting Saturday, under the modified enhanced community quarantine classification.

In a statement, MMDA chairperson Benhur Abalos said such activities will be only allowed from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.

“Meanwhile, the resolution prohibiting Metro Manila residents from conducting their exercises outdoor which took effect last Aug. 9, will lapse today, August 20 as specified in the reso,” he said.

“Hence, outdoor exercises in NCR will be allowed for the period of MECQ starting tomorrow, August 21, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. only,” he added.

The ban on outdoor exercises was enforced amid the enhanced community quarantine in the National Capital Region from August 6 to 20.

From ECQ, the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) placed the NCR under MECQ starting August 21 until August 31.

“The Metro Manila Council accepts and defers to the wisdom of the IATF placing the National Capital Region on MECQ from August 21-31, 2021,” Abalos said. —LBG, GMA News
