Cracks on Topaz Road in Ortigas Center not due to faultline —Solidum

The long cracks seen on a portion of Topaz Road in Ortigas Center, Pasig City, were not due to a faultline, according to PHIVOLCS director Renato Solidum on Monday.

Interviewed on Super Radyo dzBB, Solidum said there is no faultline in the area.

"Walang fault diyan, kung fault 'yan at gumalaw 'yung fault ay dapat ay lumindol nang malakas," he said.

(There's no fault in that area, if those cracks were caused by the movement of a fault then there should be an earthquake.)

Solidum said the cracks could be due to erosion amid strong rains or may have something to do with an ongoing excavation work near the area.

Due to the cracks, Topaz Road was closed to motorists on Monday.

The cracks were seen on the portion of Topaz Road in between a building and a construction site.

A huge tarpaulin and early warning cones were placed overnight in the area. —KBK, GMA News
